Following the huge success of Disneyland Paris Space
Mountain (which is an indoor looping coaster with catapult launch system),
it seemed logical for Disney to build a similar ride in Florida. It
was long rumored that RnR would be a copy of the Paris coaster with
different theming. However, the Imagineers had a different plan, and
track photos, indicate that it is a very different layout to Space
Mountain Paris.
This new addition to the Sunset Boulevard area of the
Disney Studios will strengthen an already popular area of the park.
Alongside Tower of Terror, and the recently opened Fantasmic! Sunset will
be the place to be! To balance this, the next scheduled
area of expansion at the park is set to be in the Catastrophe Canyon area.
Formally announced at the opening of Disney's Animal
Kingdom, RnR adds to the list of new attractions for 1999 - Test Track and
Kali Rapids Run at Animal Kingdom.

Interesting Details
- The queue line is themed to G-Force records, a fictional record
company
that was started in the 1930s. G-Force was know for attracting the
music elite
and became a growing force in the industry. Things however took a
turn for the worse on Halloween 1939. While throwing a party at the
neighboring Hollywood
Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror), a strange incident occurred and five
hotel guests
disappeared. The hotel was abandoned and G-Force fell on hard times.
When
the Hollywood Tower Hotel reopened, G-Force too began to re-emerge
and rebuilt the existing studio, adding a giant Stratocaster as it's
icon. Today at G-Force many of the top recording stars can be found
using the state of the art facilities. [Thanks CastMbr98]
- Each of the train's license plates has a Hidden Mickey, the small
Mickey Mouse insignia that designers put on a ride. To make it more
interesting, each Imagineer took a train and put their birthday on
the plate.
- The ride takes you through several of Los Angeles' icons, such as
the Hollywood sign and the giant doughnut. Apparently, you can
follow the exact path of the roller coaster on a map and get from
the old NBC studios to the concert hall.
- When Aerosmith came to town to preview the coaster, Steve Tyler
and Joe Perry rode it 12 times in a row. They also asked for -- and
got -- several changes made to the recording studio preshow that
duplicates the band's setup. The guitars, they said, go here.
- Attraction Entrance: On Sunset Boulevard, near Tower of Terror. At
40 feet tall, the larger-than-life electric guitar that marquees the
facade of "G-Force Records" has a neck which morphs into a
scale-model coaster track and extends 320 feet to the entrance arch.

-
Story Line is that you and the band are late for
the concert, so you step aboard an out-of-control limo!
-
From Disney Magazine. "The idea
behind the ride is that you've just stepped into a recording
studio where a famous band is rehearsing for an awards
show. Suddenly, the group's harried manager rushes in
and announces that the band is running late. The members
refuse to go to the show unless their loyal fans go
too. 'So, 24 at a time,' chimes in lead designer Jim
Shull, 'we pile you, the fans, into an enormous stretch limo - and
you're off."
